Pyramid Apex & Platinum Bill Acceptor Error Codes: What the LED Flash Codes Mean

E&D Trading · Oct 13, 2026

From the E&D Trading technical team: this guide covers Pyramid Apex & Platinum Bill Acceptor Error Codes: What the LED Flash Codes Mean. E&D Trading has supplied bill acceptors and parts to the amusement and vending industry for 30 years — call 877-922-6707 if you need help choosing the right part.

Pyramid bill acceptors report faults with LED flash codes. The Apex 5000/7000 series flashes its front bezel lights, and the Platinum series uses a multicolor LED on the back of the unit. Choose your model, then the flash pattern you see, and the lookup shows the error and the fix. Codes are transcribed from Pyramid Technologies' official manuals.

How to read the codes

  1. Find the model number on the label (Apex numbers start with 5 or 7, e.g. 7400-UB1; Platinum numbers start with PT1).
  2. Apex: with power on, press and hold the diagnostic button at the left rear for 1-5 seconds, then release. Count the bezel flashes between the 3-second pauses.
  3. Platinum: look at the multicolor LED on the back. Note the colour and whether it is solid, flashing or flashing rapidly. Solid green means OK.
